Air Conditioner Maintenance - Stay Cool in the Summer & Fall

Is your air conditioner in need of some attention?

Are you ready for summer and fall?

Need some tips on how to keep your air conditioner in good working order?

If you don’t pay attention then your A/C unit could break down meaning that you could be suffering in the 100-degree weather.  Here are some tips so you can enjoy summer and fall without suffering A/C unit failure.

Air Conditioner Unit Maintenance Tips:

  • Check for leaks or puddles

  • Give your outside unit room to breathe

  • Keep an eye on your thermostat

  • Replace or clean your air filter

  • Get some professional help for a tune-up

Tip #1 – CHECK DRIP PANS FOR LEAKS

An unexamined drip pan is not worth having so you need to make sure that you check it for leaks. This is important because leaks could cause water to spill and more damage will be caused from this. A leak is also an indicator that something else is wrong within your A/C unit.

Tip #2 – MAKING SURE OUTSIDE UNIT IS CLEAR

During the seasons high winds can blow things around your outside air conditioner unit. It is important to keep all types of debris away so that your unit will get the proper air flow. When debris is around your A/C unit  your home could be warmer than it should. Keeping your unit clear s an easy way to ensure your HVAC will be able to cool your home.

Tip #3 – KEEP CAREFUL TRACK OF YOUR THERMOSTAT

In order to avoid a breakdown of your air conditioner unit in the summer or fall is to keep track of the thermostat. This means not running your A/C unit unnecessarily when you are not at home. This will also cause your electric bill to be lower since your ax is not running. Thermostat management, I know, can be a bit tricky. One of the things I suggest all homeowners is to look into  a smart thermostat, which can make it quite a bit easier.

Tip #4 – REPLACE OR CLEAN AIR FILTER

When your air filter gets dirty it will need to be replaced or cleaned. If you wait to long though it can cause more damage then good. A dirty filter could cause your A/C unit to freeze up because it is working harder to get the proper air flow to work correctly.

Tip #5 – GET A PROFESSIONAL TUNE-UP

One of the most common ways to help your air conditioner unit is to get it a tune-up. Having a professional take a look to check for any problems plus see if everything is in working order. You will want to plan ahead because everyone else will be doing the same thing.
